SERVICE PROJECTS
The West Allis West Lions Club participates in community service projects, providing personal assistance and cheer to individuals and organizations.
Christmas Cheer is brought to the residents of "Allis Care
Center" and "Mitchell Manor", nursing homes in the West Allis community.
Each year our club purchases and wraps small items to be presented as gifts
to the residents of these facilities. The distribution takes place
during the Month of December as close to Christmas as possible. The
appreciation expressed by the recipients is matched by the warm feeling of goodness experienced by the visiting Lions.
Most years our club provides "Food Baskets"
to a few less fortunate families in the community.
We assist the Badger Association for the Blind and Vision
Impaired with the recording of their "In Focus" newsletter and calendar of
events. We also assist them with some of their events.
We have provided transportation and
assistance to members of "BOLD" on their annual skiing event for Sight
Impaired people.
Eyeglass recycling: we collect used eyeglasses from the
community and have them processed and distributed throughout the world, to
those in need.
Greater Milwaukee Free Clinic: we collect used prescription bottles that they use to distribute prescription medications to their patients.
