MELVIN JONES
FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENTS
The fellowship,
created in 1973, takes its name from the founder of Lions Club
International. It is an honor not an award: it is the
Lions Clubs highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual's
dedication to humanitarian service. Club donations that recognize
individual humanitarian efforts are used to achieve many lofty goals such
as:
- Global
efforts to eliminate preventable and curable blindness.
- Worldwide
funding for construction and equipping medical facilities.
- Vocational
assistance programs that teach skills so the disabled can lead
productive, independent lives.
- Funding of
reconstruction projects following major disasters.
Melvin Jones Award recognize the efforts of all citizens, not just Lions
