The Waterford Lions Club was organized on November 6, 1960 with a charter membership of thirty six Lions.  Charter members Al Mehring and PDG Ray Seidel are still active in the club.  The first fund raiser was a minstrel show entitled Everything Goes and the show was presented on May 24 & 25, 1960 at The Waterford Union High School.
The Waterford Lions Club has been active in local, district, state and national activities since inception.  At the local level, the club has demonstrated commitment to the community through many activities.  Among the activities, we have provided support to the Waterford, Rochester and Tichigan fire departments, college scholarships, improvements to the Waterford and Rochester libraries.  Also, we have been the driving force in the development of local parks, the community center in Whitford Park and other facilities.  The Waterford Lions have provided youth sports teams, the Girl and Boy Scouts, other community groups, and individuals funds to sustain their programs.  The most prominent activities are the biggest events in Waterford every year, The Fourth of July Parade and the Chicken BBQ.
At the state level the club has supported the Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt.  Members of the Waterford Lions have frequently been selected as officers for District 27-A1.  In addition, future officers of Lions Clubs in District 27-A1 receive their officer's training in Waterford every three years.
National programs such as the Leader Dog and Sight First programs have been a mainstay of the club.  On a local and national level, the Waterford Club has been a leader in drug and alcohol awareness programs through active support of middle school Quest program.  In the future, the goal is inspire and support programs that will benefit all the citizens of the Waterford/Rochester communities.
