Cudahy Lions Club Scholarship Awards
Starting back in 1956, the Cudahy Lions Club felt an investment
in our youth's education was going to be paid back ten-fold in years to come. Since
1956 the club has awarded SCHOLARSHIPS to High School Seniors
residing in the City of Cudahy. Residing Cudahy seniors from numerous schools in
Milwaukee County have been recipients. Since that year, back in 1956,
245 graduating seniors have been awarded scholarships totaling
$192,150.00.
The club's scholarship historian has yearly reviewed the
recipient's progresses. He has reported to our Board of Directors and the
Scholarship Committees that all but one (1) recipient has earned a degree where
applicable. We feel proud that the Cudahy Lions Club is continually striving towards
educational improvements in our Cudahy youth
Along with these scholarships, the club has sponsored sports
banquets, awards and sponsorships towards numerous student activities. In 1981, a
donation of $10,000.00 was presented to the Cudahy School District towards matching funds
for the purchase of computers, introducing our Cudahy students into the world
to come!!
In 1986, then Lion President, Tom Kujawa (a 1957 scholarship
recipient) presented to the Cudahy School District a check for $25,000.00. This
check was the Cudahy Lions commitment to the youth of the community, sponsoring a program
called QUEST. With this investment the club was providing the necessary training of
the teachers, the books and the curriculum which would educate our youth in the
middle school level to understand their position in today's society, show them how
to build self-esteem, deal with peer pressure and learn to say "NO" to
drugs and alcohol. Since that initial investment of $25,000.00, the Cudahy Lions has
continued that commitment with additional funds of $15,000.00 over the years as necessary,
again putting our Cudahy youth's education a #1 commitment.
The Cudahy Lions Club is proud to say our scholarship program
has provided an education experience for our youth. It also has provided our youth to
become
the future professionals of our society - business professionals, executives, doctors,
lawyers, nurses, professors, teachers, coaches, machinist, graphic designers but best of
all - citizens of our country. We feel they are making a difference in our society
and if they were to have stayed at home, OUR CUDAHY COMMUNITY!!
The Cudahy Lions have setup a Trust Fund for Scholarships
which they have contributed monies over the years which hopefully will continue the SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM for years to come. If you would like to donate
any funds or personal WILL ENDOWMENTS to our trust, we invite
you to make them payable to:
