Named for the
association’s founder, the MELVIN JONES FELLOWSHIP symbolizes
those attributes characteristic of individuals dedicated to
humanitarian service.
The program
was first established in 1973-74 when two individuals were
honored as Melvin Jones Fellows. A decade later, there were
1895 members in the world so honored.
When any
individual, club or district donates $1000 (for each award) to
the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) undesignated
funds for a fellowship, the individual so named is inducted into
the program as a MELVIN JONES FELLOW. His name is then added to
the growing list of Melvin Jones Fellows whose names are listed
and displayed at Lions Clubs International Headquarters in Oak
Brook, Illinois. Donations to LCIF helps a well operated,
voluntary organization work to improve the human condition in
the world.
